This Week in My DVR…

None of my regular shows are on! Everything is on hiatus until January, but not to worry, there are tons of cheesy holiday movies playing right now.  I love the ones on The Hallmark Channel…the silly romantic holiday movies that I not too ashamed to mention I watch.  Here are a few things that I plan to watch this week while lounging around in between holiday parties and loungewear making, TV shows and movies…

DVR Backup…To Be Watched

Marry Me (Lifetime)
I’m on part two of this two-night mini series.  I didn’t think that I would enjoy it this much, but it has me hooked.  I love me some Lifetime.  And Lucy Liu is back! Check your listings because I think it is on again on Saturday!

Indiana Jones Marathon (USA)
This came on the other day on USA.  I taped all of them because I wanted to see the most recent addition. I don’t see a repeat of this one, so you may have to Netflix this one!

This Week’s DVR “To Do” List

Tuesday, Dec. 14th

The Wendy Williams Show (Fox/BET)- This show is totally entertaining! Sometimes I’m a little late on my pop culture so Wendy keeps me current.

Y&R (CBS)- So sad but I’ve been watching this one since the 80s.

The Millionaire Matchmaker (Bravo)- I love Patti! People never listen to her.  I probably wouldn’t either, but it’s easier to agree with her from this side of the airwaves.

The Fashion Show (Bravo)- I really don’t like this show, but I keep it around as background noise when I’m really too busy to watch television.

Three Wise Women (Hallmark)- Appears to be some cheesy Christmas movie that I’m sure I’ll love, about true love, romance, etc.

Wednesday, Dec. 15th

Psych (USA)- I absolutely love this show! Just light and fun. Comedic mystery.

Top Chef (Bravo)
This is the All-Stars season.  Every new direction this show takes is amazing and gets even better. I’ve already been floored with who they’ve sent home!

Thursday, Dec. 16th

The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills (Bravo)
I hate to admit that these women have snagged my attention, but they have.  My favorite BHHW is Lisa!

EB Lounge Holiday Reading Guide

In history, I may be the slowest reader on the planet.  Throughout grade school, I was always in the highest reading groups.  In high school, I took honors English.  I even majored in Journalism in college.  But still, the words on a page don’t always hold my attention.  I get distracted, I forget what I just read, I fall asleep, etc.  I must not be the only one with this problem.  In fact I know I’m not.  I just don’t love to read, that’s why I love to blog lists.  They get to the point and hopefully I won’t lose my readers.

Traveling for the holidays, with my long plane ride home to look forward to and some cold winter nights, I’ve definitely got some time for reading.  Here are a few of my suggestions that I’ve found to hold my attention this holiday season.

Awesome Book Series…The Outlander Series by Diana Gabaldon

Now I’ve been reading this series for years.  I’ve turned people on to these books and I’m still only on the 4th book in a seven book series.  But I’m telling you, on a cold winter’s night, these books are perfect.  Sex, scandal, adventure…you name it, it’s in these books.  Get the first book, Outlander, and you’ll love it!

Useful, Interesting Magazine Read…Real Simple

I don’t subscribe to this magazine, I’ve been getting them from a friend, but I plan to (if someone doesn’t gift it to me first!).  You get some home decor, some fashion, some cooking…just a little bit of everything.  Anything that gives me a little direction and makes my life easier makes me a fan.

A Must-Read Blog…The Cosmo Sex Challenge

Now maybe I’m divulging too much about myself here, but I happened upon this blog and it completely held my attention.  Most people will find this interesting and useful reading in the midst of the winter season.  Never have I seen more interesting explanations of the Kama Sutra than I did when I happened upon this blog.  Definitely check this one out!

Happy Reading!

eb food lounge: loungewear cookies

The holiday season is setting in. And while the temperature outside doesn’t feel like Christmas, the activities can!  So my friend Emily and I began practicing on our holiday cookie decorating for parties to come later in the month.  Nothing too overly complicated.  Just some good old Betty Crocker Sugar Cookie mix (although Duncan Hines’ Golden Sugar cookie mix is so much better if you can find it).

eb lounge playlist: holiday soul mix

So the holidays are upon us and and it’s finally time Christmas music.  I mean, every other time of the year it’s an absolute no-no.  Whenever my iPod is playing and some xmas music accidentally begins gets wound into the mix, it’s immediately shut down!  But for the month of December, it’s definitely on the playlist.  I plan to post a few holiday playlists throughout the month, but my first one is a little more soulful!  When I’m making my holiday cutout cookies and cleaning, I lplay these in the background! I hope you like them and Happy Happy Holidays!

Home Office Lounging

There are definitely some benefits to working in the home.  My office is set up at home, and I love it.  Even though I have pretty much outgrown the space, I make the most of it and that means dressing the part.  There are rules to picking the right home office clothing.  Some people think that if they work at home in their pajamas, that’s acceptable.  Well…it isn’t to me, so here are some lessons in this area that I’ve learned.

lesson no. 1- lack of pride in your appearance will transcend to your business.

if you’re sitting around in your pajamas, you may be more inclined to lie on the couch instead of sitting at your desk. you may be tempted to run that errand tomorrow because you’re not dressed and ready to go. you don’t need to get up every morning and put on a power business suit, but comfortable clothing options are always an alternative.

lesson no. 2- choose some comfortable loungewear clothing that is versatile enough to take you through your day, whether in or away from the home office.

there’s no need to jump up and throw on your workout clothes unless you’re planning to workout. the right clothing can be comfortable enough for home, and transition to a business lunch or meeting outside of the home office if needed. that way, if you have to be called upon to be somewhere quickly, you’ll be prepared.

lesson no. 3- set the standard of dress code for those who you currently have working in your home office, or those you will one day hire.

as your home office grows, you’re going to eventually bring in others to help you.  just like in any other work setting, you’ll have to set a standard of dress. while it will most likely be lax, making sure your employees are prepared for the same unpredictable work day you are, is key.

comfortable clothing is key no matter what the occasion. if you look good you’ll feel good. feel better in your home office by dressing for the success of your company.  shop online for comfy clothing.

Yes, I Consider Yoga Part of My Lounging Time.

Many years ago I found a love for power yoga. For once, I found a form of exercise that I craved and looked forward to.  In an effort to get myself back into the practice when I moved to Los Angeles, I decided to train as a power yoga instructor.  Not only is it a great way for me to help others, it allows me to help myself.  While I love to lounge around and watch movies, read books and yack on the phone, this practice of yoga is the best form of relaxation I can find.  While the workout is active, vigorous and intense, the peace you I find in a workout happens during and after I’m finished.  I feel better, sleep better, look better…and I could go on! My friend Emily was kind enough to shoot me in some of the poses I thought may be fun to share.

Inversions are the best!  I’m addicted.  Going upside down gets the energy running to my brain but is somehow soothing to me! Here are a few pics of me playing around in my headstand.

The challenging aspect of power yoga is what drives me each and every time I practice.  I sweat so intensely and that is amazing.  Here are some of the arm balances that I’m working on.  There are so many more that I can’t do and I’m trying to conquer, but it’s going to take time.  Here’s where I’m at so far.

By the way…I’m wearing Erin Braxton leggings and tunic tank.  If you’re ever in L.A., definitely stop by Earth’s Power Yoga and try my power yoga class!

The Pajama Tales- 5 Funny Things I Do In My Pajamas

pajamas can be the most versatile clothing in your wardrobe. i’ve found many uses for my pajamas and several occasions appropriate to wear them. but first, i call my pajamas “loungewear,” that way i can get away with so much more.

here is a short list of some of the things i do in my pajamas.

pajama tale no. 1- i attend business meetings and make multi-thousand dollar deals. all in my pajamas.
seeing how i home office, working in my pajamas is one of the perks.

pajama tale no. 2- steak and lobster dinners with clients, then after dinner drinks. all in my pajamas.
if you pick the right pajamas, they can double as loungewear, and then triple as daywear. with a change of shoes and accessories, you can achieve a completely different look, taking your pajamas from indoors to out in a flash.

pajama tale no. 3- would you prefer the window or the aisle, while traveling in your pajamas?
what better place to wear your pajamas than on a stuffy, uncomfortable airplane? you’re already packed in the plane like a can of sardines, freezing from the recycled air conditioning air, and sitting next to some odd stranger. if you can’t control anything else in your in-flight environment, at least you can make yourself comfortable with the right outfit.

pajama tale no. 4- i love to greet the neighbors in my pajamas.
whether it’s walking the dog, checking the mail, or simply opening the front door. once you remove the fuzzy slippers, what is there to be embarrassed about, if you make the right choices in your pajamas?

pajama tale no. 5- did he say “let’s get together on friday night?” and i was planning on hanging out in my pajamas. so why should i change my plans?

sassy robes can turn into hot little dresses, when paired with stilettos and the right handbag. dating is tough enough, so be comfortable and cute at the same time. does he need to know you’re in your pajamas? he just needs to see how hot you look!

pajama wearing possibilities are endless. picking the right kind will take your wardrobe farther than you realize. for some of my favorite loungewear pajamas, click here.
