Pre-Holiday Getaway

Sometimes a girl just has to get away and find some sort of escape from it all.  I’ve been working nonstop for sometime, that’s why when I got the opportunity to visit my very pregnant best friend in Washington D.C. I ran to the airport. Even though I didn’t get a chance to lie on a beach or luxuriate in a 5-star spa (my normal vaca escape), I had one of the best times I’ve had in a long while. Seeing how this has been my bff since 5th grade and we still talk everyday, we were crying laughing for the entire trip.  Just want to share some of my pics with you.

We were looking for some good brunch on Sunday morning after I flew in on the red-eye, arriving at 6am! We found it at Creme, in the U Street Corridor.  I had the brunch shrimp & grits!  OMG!!!! So delicious.

We headed shopping in Alexandria.  We’re so silly, just walking around.  Me and the pregnant lady had to take a pause in Restoration Hardware.

We are cupcake connoisseurs.  We had cupcakes at two places but Baked & Wired in Georgetown is the sh*#!

I was also on the hunt for some makeup products that could make my lips pretty red and juicy like an article I recently read in W Magazine. Lauren, in the MAC store in Georgetown, came close to helping me achieve my vision.  I felt very much in the holiday spirit with these red lips! Once I’ve found a cheaper version of the one listed in W Magazine, I’ll post my finds.

We’re on our way out again.  Not sure where we’re headed.  Probably to a movie and food establishment before I jump on another red-eye home to L.A.!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Shameless Movie Marathon

One of my shameless passions is watching television. My Westie and I lounge around with DVR remote in hand on a regular basis. I am completely and totally addicted and have no problem admitting it.  For example, right now here are some of the shows I’m watching.

Gossip Girl, 90210, The Real Housewives of Atlanta, The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, Glee (my Favorite!!!!), Modern Family, Grey’s Anatomy, Private Practice, Hellcats, America’s Next Top Model, Nikita (I’m trying to give this one a chance, it’s just okay), Top Chef (no matter what, Just Desserts, All Stars, Masters), etc…..

But this week is going to be a little slow.  A lot of the shows are on hiatus for a week until after Thanksgiving. So what to do (besides checking out a few movies at the theater)? I happen to think it is the perfect time to catch up on some of those TV shows I didn’t see and want to.  For example, I’m currently watching 24 (Season 7).  Gotta love that Jack Bauer.  But I’m also going to pull out some awesome movies and I wanted to share them with you in case you’re facing a similar challenge this week.

1. The Color Purple
I absolutely love this movie and forget how much until I watch it! After watching Oprah’s reunion episode last week, I must go back and watch this one.  And Saturday night, when I was on my way to board Virgin America to D.C., Whoopi was right in front of me and I was further reminded that I have to pull this one out.

2. Mean Girls
I actually know people who have not seen this movie.  Are you kidding? This has to be one of the funniest movies in the last 10 years, and it allows us to reflect back on when Lindsay was still cute and hopeful.

3. Clueless
Another one of my favorite movies. It is mindless and ridiculous.  Just what I need right now!

4. Gladiator
Ties with one of my favoritest movies of all time! I can’t I remember going to see this in the theater and was blown away then. Not a Russell Crowe fan, but he worked it out in this movie. I absolutely love period movies. Excellent viewing right here!

5. Stardust
This cute movie slipped by a lot of people. It’s fantasy and fun. And another period movie, which I love, with Michelle Pfeiffer and Claire Danes. Robert DeNiro is so fun in this movie.  Netflix only gives it 3 stars, but few movies do well in their rating system.

I thought 5 movies were a good start.  My taste is all over the place. If I take things back to the 80s, the list would never end! I love movies. Happy viewing.

EB Review: Food And Feelings

Recently we were contacted by a cute blog site called Food and Feelings. They were very excited to review Erin Braxton Loungewear and we were happy for the excited interest.  While their main focus is healthy food products, they occasionally review clothing items and did a wonderful review. Check it out for another opinion on why our clothing is such a must have!
