The temperature is dropping and cozying up in your bed becomes more and more appealing. Sometimes you’re in your bed solo and other times you may have company. Certain bedtime situations warrant the age-old question, “What do you like to sleep in?” Everyone has a preference…
- “a T-shirt and underwear”
- “boxers and a tank”
- “a negligee”
- “I just sleep in my underwear.”
- “I sleep naked”
No matter what your answer, having sleepwear appropriate for the occasion is necessary Here are some rules on buying the right sleepwear for you.
Rule No. 1- When choosing sleepwear to actually sleep in, make sure it’s comfortable and doesn’t restrict movement.
If you don’t like to be fully covered and always get tangled in long dresses, you may opt for a chemise style instead of a long gown. Perhaps some cute lounge shorts or pants make you more comfortable.
Rule No. 2- When choosing sleepwear to lounge around in, better known as loungewear, make sure it isn’t something that would embarrass you for others to see.
Often times we just want comfortable clothes that we can hang around the house in, and perhaps we’ll sleep in them later. But if an unannounced visitor comes knocking (like UPS or a friend in the neighborhood) you don’t want to feel like you’re scrambling to cover up. The same rule applies when you’re traveling and simply relaxing in someone else’s home.
Rule No. 3- Choose sleepwear that you like, that feels good on your skin and makes you feel attractive.
If flannel pajamas are warm but look frumpy, you may want to choose something more attractive for your significant other. Try soft cottons and modals. They often come in more fashion forward designs than flannel.
Rule No. 4- Consider getting additional matching pieces to give you a more complete look.
Coordinating pieces in sleepwear can make your clothing more versatile. If you chose a chemise for sleep, pick a matching robe so you’ll be more covered around the house.
Rule No. 5- Don’t skimp on quality.
Most people think that spending a lot of money on sleepwear and loungewear doesn’t make the most sense. And for some people, it really doesn’t. But if you spend a lot of time in your sleepwear and loungewear, why wouldn’t you get something that you really love?
